Why are they doing this? The plot does not reveal. To begin with, the player needs to know that sinister hands will always hunt us. In the game, we have to get out from the lowest sector to the upper decks, but the levels will not immediately allow us to do this. She, like many nomes - characters in the game - hides her face for unknown reasons. LN2 was much more forgiving while still making me made me feel like I was always on the verge of dying, which is exactly the feeling I want when being chased by a monster.Little Six is a girl who got on the ship as a servant. The ambiance of LN1 was top-notch, but after you die to the same sequence six times in a row, it can start to feel more frustrating than scary. The controls for the first game felt slightly sluggish or "off" in a way that sometimes left me confused about whether I was even supposed to attempt to jump certain gaps, and this often happened when a monster was chasing me, leading to a lot of deaths and repetition. Tone aside, I think that LN2 is a much easier game to enjoy for gameplay reasons the controls feel much tighter and more consistent. LN1 had more unforgettable moments that have stuck with me, but LN2 gave me more to think about between gameplay sessions. And because LN2 is bigger and more complex, it relies on you to put certain puzzle pieces together to get really invested in the story, while the stakes of LN1 are very straightforward. LN2 was a longer game and had much more variety in setpieces and enemies, which gave it the feeling of a sprawling journey, rather than a smaller "jailbreak" story about a girl escaping from a ship. LN1 absolutely nailed the tone and atmosphere of that ship, but that's easier to do for a game that's smaller in scope.
